Reading the OI walls
Option writers defend the strikes where they've sold, so the biggest open-interest concentrations act like walls. The highest call-OI strike tends to act as resistance (writers hedge by selling into rallies toward it); the highest put-OI strike tends to act as support. Together they frame the likely range — and a wall that starts unwinding often signals that level is about to break.
Using this page
- Treat the call wall as the day's likely ceiling and the put wall as the floor.
- Watch for OI shifting — fresh build confirms a level; unwinding warns of a break.
- Combine with PCR and max pain for the full structural picture.
